OLYMPIC EFFORTS: In time for next month’s Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, Alex and Ani, the American-made lifestyle brand, has partnered with the United States Olympic Committee to design five bangles with wintery charms. The Rhode Island-based company will donate a portion of the sales to help the USOC with funding for U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes and hopefuls. The initiative is part of the brand’s Affinity licensing program which develops exclusive pieces and innovative partnerships.

Made from recycled materials and offered in signature finishes that the company is calling — Russian Gold or Russian Silver — the patriotic bangles retail for $32 each and are part of its Team USA Winter Collection. Alex and Ani has given 250 Olympians a hook with a USA Olympic charm that can be used as a zipper pull, as well as bangles to a variety of Sochi-bound athletes.

And should the company’s founder, designer and creative director Carolyn Rafaelian and ceo Giovanni Feroce choose to catch the Winter Games from their home state, they have two prime locations for viewing options. Earlier this month Feroce pid $6.8 million in cash for the Wyndham Estate, a Newport manse built in 1890. His new digs are just up-the-road from Belcourt Castle, the Gilded Age manse built for Oliver Hazard Perry Belmont that Rafaelian now owns and is renovating as a tour house, art gallery and event space.
