Banana Republic to Supply Formal Attire to Oracle Team USA

As part of the deal, the sailing crew will wear Banana Republic to the America’s Cup Ball on Sept. 5 and to other America’s Cup-related formal events.

AHOY THERE: For this year’s America’s Cup, Banana Republic has partnered with Oracle Team USA as its formal attire supplier. The Larry Ellison-backed American team was on the San Francisco Bay racecourse Monday, honing its skills in preparation for defending the 34th America’s Cup. As part of the deal, Oracle Team USA will wear Banana Republic Monogram Collection to the America’s Cup Ball on Sept. 5 and to other America’s Cup-related formal events.

To spread the word about the partnership, Banana Republic will host an event with the sailing crew in the retailer’s San Francisco flagship next month. The chain will also flag the tie-in through local outdoor and print advertising. In port, the male seafarers will have such looks as a navy and black micro-gingham suit and a white woven shirt with French cuffs. Their female teammates will have a black-and-white striped dress with box pleats and a black clutch, among other styles.
