FRIENDLY FIRE: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin kicked off with a runway showing of A.F. Vandevorst’s second line, A Friend. Besides offering an earlier-than-usual peek at their signature draped jersey pieces, the Belgian label’s shoes and belts, often double-wrapped, were also on show in the German capital for the first time. Berlin is one of the designing duo’s favorite cities. “When you walk the streets, you feel there’s someone creating something in every cellar,” marveled Filip Arickx, who designs the line with An Vandevorst. The pair hope to find a suitable spot to install their MASH-like guerrilla shop, which appeared first in Antwerp, then Knokke and now Ghent.
