FOOTLOOSE: “They are actually great for dancing — very supple,” said Benjamin Millepied, sporting a brand new pair of Stan Smiths, Adidas’s iconic sneaker that has been recently relaunched after a three-year hiatus.
The choreographer, who was at a party in Paris Thursday night to celebrate the event, said he used up another pair while rehearsing for the modern dance project he created with the Batsheva dance company for the occasion. It was an expressive dance act-cum-video.
Could it be a taste of what’s to come at the Paris Opera under his helm this fall? Millepied said diplomatically: “The artistic level of the company is incredible, but there is a lot to do in regards to technology, media, visuals and [interaction].”
Fronting the new Adidas campaign, set to bow within the next month in select print magazines including L’Uomo Vogue, is Louis-Marie de Castelbajac. The French nobleman said he was “secretly working on his own collection of casualwear for men. It’s called Le Void, and we are presenting it at Capsule, the New York-based trade show, this week.”
Singer Imany, meanwhile, wondered about some “really weird propositions” she has been getting lately. “I just shot a Chanel story for Be magazine, in which I embody Coco Chanel. Somebody thought I was related to her. I didn’t understand it, but it was fun,” Imany said.
The model-turned singer is also wrapping the soundtrack of a new movie directed by Audrey Dana, starring Vanessa Paradis and Isabelle Adjani, to be released in fall. “It’s about women, by women, for women,” she explained, of the film with the gender-bending title “Homo sapiennes.”
