A Suitable Role Model

Savile Row tailor Ozwald Boateng is lending his support to the British government¿s Reach initiative.

Savile Row tailor Ozwald Boateng is lending his support to the British government’s Reach initiative, a program designed to create positive role models for young black men in the U.K. Boateng, who was born in Ghana and raised in London, will sit on a panel of judges who have been appointed to select 20 black male role models in the U.K. from disciplines such as the arts and sciences. The program’s aim is to encourage young black men in the U.K. to fulfill their potential. “There is a real need to inspire young black men and I think that can only be achieved by demonstrating different black men from different professions doing well,” said Boateng. “I think that’s going to be a powerful thing for them to see.”
