ROYAL RSVP: David and Victoria Beckham, Holly Branson, British Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha Cameron are said to be among the 1,900 guests invited to Westminster Abbey for the royal nuptials. According to a statement from Clarence House, 1,000 of those invited to the church are close friends and family. President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy are widely reported by the British press to have been left out of the crowd, although Clarence House declined to confirm or deny any names. Sarah Ferguson has already confirmed she won't be attending.
The guest list pales in comparison to that of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, who hosted 3,500 guests at their wedding at St. Paul’s Cathedral. But William and Kate are said to be planning with a spirit of austerity in mind, and wanted to put the focus on close family and friends. Six hundred guests have been invited to a lunchtime reception at Buckingham Palace, hosted by Queen Elizabeth II, and 300 have been asked to dinner and dancing at the palace, hosted by The Prince of Wales.
