A NEW CLAIRE’S CEO?: Jim Fielding, president of Disney Stores, is the lead candidate for chief executive officer of Claire’s, the jewelry chain, sources said. An announcement could come soon, possibly today. Claire’s, owned by private equity firm Apollo, has been searching for a ceo for about six months.
“He’s a product development guy. He’s a merchant,” said a source. “He’s been at Disney a long time.”
J. Per Brodin, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Claire’s, said of the company’s ceo search, “That search is being conducted by the board of directors. Two weeks ago, on our conference call, we said there was no further comment on the search.”
A spokeswoman for the Disney Store North America confirmed that Fielding has left the company. He announced his resignation on Monday.
