A Mix of Fashion and Art in Berlin

Mercedes-Benz, gave Antwerp's MoMu fashion museum and Belgian artist Frederik Heyman carte blanche to create scenes around four cars.

REMEMBRANCE OF THINGS FAST: Mercedes-Benz, title sponsor of Berlin Fashion Week, put four of its vintage models center stage at an art-meets-fashion installation. The car company gave Antwerp's MoMu fashion museum and Belgian artist Frederik Heyman carte blanche to create scenes around four cars from the Seventies through the Nineties. Four designers contributed fashion creations to each tableau. Bernhard Willhelm's Lycra looks for men and mirrored Mykita sunglasses riff on the SL Roadster's playboy reputation, while Peter Pilotto does a glittery spin on Eighties power dressing to suit a C126 coupe. "It's the heritage of Mercedes-Benz and they're just giving out this heritage and saying 'Can you do something creative with it'? That's a whole new way of collaborating with brands, I think,” mused Kaat Debo, director of MoMu.
