The list of prominent international designers attending is likely to include Valentino, Giorgio Armani, Stefano Pilati, John Galliano, Hubert de Givenchy, Alber Elbaz, Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Lacroix, Hedi Slimane, Kenzo Takada, Sonia Rykiel and Jean-Louis Scherrer. Catherine Deneuve, Laetitia Casta and Claudia Schiffer are also expected.
The service will include a Mass with a choir and liturgical and classical music, said a spokesman for the Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent Foundation.
A spokesman for YSL, the fashion house owned by Gucci Group, said YSL headquarters in Paris and YSL boutiques worldwide will be closed during the services as a tribute to the couturier, who died of brain cancer Sunday at his home in Paris. He was 71.
