To mark the upcoming Games, WWD polled industry Brits about their own athleticism and what Olympic events they plan to attend. Hello, Greco-Roman wrestling!

MATTHEW WILLIAMSON

What’s your workout?

“I find gyms rather depressing places and prefer to exercise outdoors, when the mood takes me. Nothing too strenuous, mind. I walk tons with my dog, mostly in and around Hampstead, where I live. I jog around the block most evenings and occasionally play tennis with a friend in Regents Park.”

Will you go to the Games?
“I won’t be in London as I have to go overseas to check progress on my collection for September. I’d have liked to have seen the gymnastics, and the swimming in the amazing aquatic center.”

What’s your workout?

“I swim two to three times a week — breaststroke and backstroke — and go to the gym once a week with a trainer. And I cycle everywhere; I have two customized bikes.”

Will you go to the Games?
“I am going to try to see the three-day eventing [an equestrian event comprising dressage, cross-country and show jumping] in Greenwich. I rode horses until my midteens.”

What’s your workout?

“I do a bit of everything. I enjoy riding my bike, running, swimming, yoga and Pilates, as well as riding my horse in the country on weekends.”

Will you go to the Games?
“I am lucky enough to be able to see some events — I think gymnastics will be fun, as I worked so closely with the team, and of course the cycling is a Great Britain area of excellence. Whatever I can see will be amazing as I feel I know the team well now.”

What’s your workout?

“I often visit the Power Plate studio at Harrods, and I also like to do yoga once or twice a week. I have a wonderful personal trainer who comes to my house twice a week in the mornings to put me through my paces. I also run a few miles around the common each week and take a lot of stairs — my office is on the sixth floor so I literally take hundreds a day!”

Will you go to the Games?
“I will be attending a selection of the athletic events. The most exciting bit for me, personally though, will be carrying the Olympic torch before it gets to its final destination. It’s a truly historic occasion and I can’t wait to play my part!”

“I run to work in the morning along the canal [in Dalston, northeast London] three to four times a week. Twice a week, I swim at the London Fields Lido. I do 30 laps — about half a mile.”

Will you go to the Games?
“Greco-Roman wrestling — I entered the ticket lottery and it was the luck of the draw. It’s a little bit random, but I’m going with it!”

“My favorite is Power Plate, which I do three times a week at a little studio in London Bridge. I always follow it with a nice cup of tea — Earl Grey with a splash of milk.”

“I will be spending my holidays on one of the nicest islands in Greece, where I will be watching the majority of the games on TV with a very chilled glass of wine.”

What’s your workout?

“I’m in Turks and Caicos now, so I’ve been walking along the beach for two miles a day and doing Pilates. When I’m in London, I do Pilates at home three times a week and go walking on [Hampstead] Heath three times a week. I enjoy Pilates so much — you can really feel areas of your body responding, and my balance now is very good — tips for getting fit when you’re an old lady!”

Will you go to the Games?
“I’ll be watching it on TV — I love the diving and swimming.”

What’s your workout?

“Three times a week with Nick Wolfe at a small private studio in Marylebone, London. Cardio, weights and his specialty ‘shredding,’ which is a hellish combination of it all. Then I swim on weekends at my neighborhood Virgin Active Club in Ladbroke Grove. It’s the best hangover remedy.”

Will you go to the Games?
“I’m going to scalp some tickets to beach volleyball and swimming. And also to show jumping because it’s so posh — and I’m not!”

What’s your workout?

“I exercise at home, not much but regularly. Every morning: 30 sit-ups, 10 push-ups and I lift some weights — 5 kg. Once or twice a week I also do one-and a-half hours of exercise with Natalie, my very tough private instructor. She has a routine of exercises based on Pilates. ”

Will you go to the Games?
“I will be on holiday in a very quiet little town in France for most of it, but I will be back to go to the closing ceremony.”

What’s your workout?

“I have a personal trainer who has worked out the best routine for me. I do cardio and light weights twice a week and sometimes swimming if I have the energy. I also go running in Hyde Park with my miniature Doberman, Jake.”

Will you go to the Games?
“I didn’t manage to get my hands on any tickets so, like many others, I will be watching from home. The events I like most are the swimming, triathlon, shot put and, of course, the running!”

What’s your workout?

“I see a personal trainer three times a week — Luis DeVera of Williams DeVera, and he is great. I also try to squeeze in two extra cardio sessions, preferably spinning.”

Will you go to the Games?
“I have tickets to the 1,500-meter men’s finals. If you are going to experience one thing during the Olympics it has to be in the main stadium. The architect in me would love to go to the velodrome, simply because of the beauty of the shapes and because cycling in one of Great Britain’s strengths.”
