Nominees Named for CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Honors

Ten young designers vie for $200K and mentor guidance in fourth annual fashion face-off.

The 10 finalists for this year’s CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund have been selected.

They are Phillip Lim of 3.1 Phillip Lim; Scott Sternberg of Band of Outsiders; Erin Fetherston of Fetherston Design Group; Nunthirat Koi Suwannagate of Koi; Rogan Gregory of Rogan; Gabriel Asfour, Angela Donhauser and Adi Gil of Threeasfour; Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai of Vena Cava; Victoria Bartlett of VPL; Michael Bastian, and Philip Crangi of Philip Crangi Jewelry.

The winner, to be revealed at the 7th on Sale kickoff gala on Nov. 15, will receive a monetary award of $200,000. The two runners-up will receive $50,000 each. The three recipients will be assigned a mentor and receive a year's worth of managerial guidance and support from a top industry executive.

In 2004, the first fund recipients were Proenza Schouler designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, and runners-up prizes were given to designers Nicole and Michael Colovos, then at Habitual, and Cloak's Alexandre Plokhov.

In 2005, Trovata designers John Whiteledge, Sam Shipley, Josia Lamberto-Egan and Jeff Halmos won the top award, with Derek Lam and Thom Browne being the runners-up. Last year, the winner was Doo-Ri Chung, with runners-up prizes going to Rodarte's Laura and Kate Mulleavy and Thakoon Panichgul for Thakoon.

The fund is sponsored by partner Gap and underwriters Barneys New York, Coach, Juicy Couture, L’Oreal Paris, Nordstrom, Theory, Lord & Taylor, Kellwood Co., Liz Claiborne Inc., and Vogue, as well as donors Mulberry, Diane von Furstenberg and Tommy Hilfiger.
