Joe Fresh put aside its punchy signature orange to create a fall collection that’s virtually 100 percent black and white. “That’s a big change for us,” said Joe Fresh founder Joe Mimran. At the fall showing last week in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood, Mimran cited Malcolm McLaren, Edward Ruscha word paintings and the streets of Paris in the Nineties as the inspirations. Among the most dramatic looks were abstract camouflage prints on top of lace, classic denim shapes reinvented in silk cotton, knits, heavyweight nylon pleated skirts with side zippers, fake furs and laser-cut techie skirts and sleeveless tops. As far as the overall feel, it’s effortless cool.
