As the end of the resort season comes into view, Ralph Lauren is in pure vacation mode. He's doing paisley prints and bright colors — perfect for tropical getaways. To offset them, Lauren also shows plenty of calm, crisp whites, like this shrunken blazer and shorts paired with a crocheted bikini, worn with vivid accessories.
The resort season means entirely different things at Ralph Lauren and Chado Ralph Rucci. For Lauren, life's a beach, with bright colors and paisley prints setting the tone for his ladies who are heading to the tropics. Consider his vibrant printed dresses, sexy swimwear with matching caftans and easy silk cargo pants — all perfect for poolside affairs.
Rucci's idea is to do less elaborate versions of his intricately crafted styles. Short, easy dresses in double-knit cotton or super lightweight sequins, twinsets with ribbon skirts and effortless sarong gowns all make the point. "The spirit of resort is different," says the designer, "less precious and a minimum of delicate handwork."
