J.C. Penney Co. Inc. has registered a $1 billion series A, medium-term note program to be sold from time to time.

PLANO, Texas -- J.C. Penney Co. Inc. has registered a $1 billion series A, medium-term note program to be sold from time to time, with proceeds to be used for general corporate purposes.


The shelf registration was filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission in April.


CS First Boston, Merrill Lynch & Co., J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. and Morgan Stanley & Co. Inc. are agents for the program.
