MASSENET’S NEW ROLE: Natalie Massenet, the founder and executive chairman of the Net-a-porter Group, will succeed Harold Tillman as chairman of the British Fashion Council next year, WWD has learned. The chairman’s role is an honorary one with an initial three-year commitment. A spokeswoman for the British Fashion Council declined to comment on Tuesday. An announcement is expected today.
Tillman took over the post from Sir Stuart Rose in 2008, and during his tenure formed a full-time management team to run the BFC, spearheaded London Fashion Week’s return to Somerset House, encouraged Burberry to move its women’s show from Milan to London, and helped to plan a series of events to mark the London 2012 Olympic Games.
As reported in January, he will remain in his position through the end of 2012. The appointment is subject to the approval by the BFC board.
