Bally RTW Spring 2009

Brian Atwood’s third collection for Bally demonstrated he has a steady grip on the creative reins, and he delivered again for summer evolving his bohemian gal into a pretty youthful belle reminiscent of a northern California songstress circa the Seventies. Working with a lush garden theme, Atwood let the romance flow with a washed-out floral print on short frothy chiffon dresses, and patent mary jane platforms. He gave things a feminine gloss by adding lingerie under ruffled blouses, beads onto scarf fringes and with the line’s standout piece — a lace bolero jacket intricately crocheted with silk and suede. Accessories had a lightened-up look, like the slouchy, soft python and suede bags in sandy tones and buttery glove-leather sandals with straps that climbed up the legs. A hybrid tote and clutch in crocodile and canvas highlighted the glamorous luxury that Atwood is injecting into Bally.
