Tumblr, the lastest go-to social medium for the fashion industry, might have some competition. Taking the term "interactive" a step further than some of its contemporaries on the Web, Vera Wang unveiled new features on its blog Vera Unveiled via digital sharing solution Meebo that allows users to chat in real time and more easily share digital content. This means that fans can congregate on the brand's Web site and discuss Wang's latest bridal, ready-to-wear collections, and more.
The designer is the first in the industry to integrate the Meebo Bar on its Web site - which in addition to enabling instant messaging capabilities, will give followers immediate access to YouTube videos and the company's Twitter and Facebook pages. According to Susan Rerat from Vera Wang digital, they are also using the technology as a driver for sign-ups and revenue for "XO Vera," the brand's advertising sponsored email newsletter.
"Providing our audience with a more personalized and direct experience when they visit our site is important, but the impact of enabling them to share that experience is limitless," said Rerat. "We're we're offering a new and easy way for our consumers to spread our latest style trends and news directly with their friends and family."
The Meebo Bar - currently featured on more than 8,000 Web sites - is a platform that integrates all social networking channels into one place, allowing users to maximize the content they share and chat in real time. Designer Social, FashionTribes.com and Bonobos are other fashion-centric Web sites that already use the technology.
