Solstice Sunglass Boutique and LIM College announced the winner and runner-ups of the first Summer Solstice Visual Merchandising Competition, a design contest to create a seasonal campaign concept for the retail chain's annual "Summer Solstice" sales promotion. It was the first time Solstice had ever participated in a student design competition.
The objective was for students to create a compelling retail window concept consistent in look and feel with the retailer's current point of view while incorporating sunglasses by Carrera.
Winner Kristina Visceglia of Brielle, New Jersey, a recent graduate of LIM College, took first place with her concept "Discovering Summer Solstice," which included a visual of a pair of Carrera sunglasses nestled in a bottle on the sand of a beach. "Since I grew up at the Jersey Shore, my mind instinctively connected summer to the beach life," she said.
The visual will appear in all 160 Solstice store windows through July 14th.
Visceglia and three runner-ups -- Connor de Guehery, Tara Mangiero and Jordan McGovern -- were all recognized at an event last night at the Solstice Sunglass Boutique in the Flatiron District.
