With over 4 million members nationwide and haundreds of thousands in the Los Angeles area alone, it was a natural transition to add local deals to the Rue La La pacakge.
Following the trend made so popular by Groupon, Rue La La launched Rue Local in the fall of 2010. With the addition of Rue Los Angeles, Rue Local is now in five markets including Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Seattle, and according to McWeeny users shouldn't be surprised to see Rue Local popping up in other large cities by the end of the summer or early fall.
"We don't believe that a customer just wants restaurants, spas or shoes. We believe it's a holistic lifestyle. and it's in that whole lifestyle experience that we created at Rue Local," McWeeny told WWD.
Rue LA launched today with an offer from the Bar Method studio, and early sales will also include the Grammy Museum and Mr. C's, a brand new boutique hotel.
