Last week actress Jaime Ray Newman stopped by WWD to talk about her new ABC series "Eastwick," an hour-long "Desperate Housewives"-esque drama based on the film "The Witches of Eastwick" and co-starring Lindsay Price and Rebecca Romijn-O'Connell.

It turned out Newman was more engaging than the show, so here's what you need to know about the pretty, petite redhead:

Full Name: Jaime Ray Newman

Age:
31

Hometown:
Suburbs of Detroit

Education: Newman started at Boston University (Ginnifer Goodwin was a classmate) before transferring to Northwestern University to study English literature.

Big break:
"General Hospital," 2001

Can be seen in:
"Mental" (Fox), "Eureka" (SciFi Channel, starting in July); "Eastwick" (ABC, starting this fall)

Extracurricular activities:
Music. Newman is a jazz vocalist and played around Los Angeles between acting jobs. "But I lost a lot of my musicians to much cooler bands," she says. "My pianist is now in My Morning Jacket." Now she dabbles with "Eastwick" co-star Price, who is also a songwriter and producer.

Fashion connection: Her younger sister Beth is the in-house pr manager for denim company J Brand.
