Livestreams Take Over Fashion Week

Like straight-from-the-front-row Twitter updates and five-inch heels, livestreams have become a fashion week staple for designers....

Like straight-from-the-front-row Twitter updates and five-inch heels, livestreams have become a fashion week staple for designers. The number of designers sharing their formerly exclusive runway shows and presentations with the interweb masses grows every year, and this season livestreams have officially become an integral part of the fashion week machine.

If you're going to be chained to your desk for the duration of Fashion Week (like a certain someone writing this post), then and should be your destinations of choice. First Comes Fashion will be streaming most of the shows at Lincoln Center, as well as some off-site ones (yes, Proenza Schouler will be there). is Mac & Milk's partner this season, streaming some of the most coveted shows, including Alexander Wang and Preen.

While First Comes Fashion and are taking the reigns this season, some designers are relying on Facebook, social media platform of the moment Tumblr and their own Web sites to expand their audiences.

Tommy Hilfiger is once again opening up the show to the brand's more than 885,000 Facebook followers on Sunday at 8 p.m., while Alice + Olivia's Facebook followers will get a chance to watch the brand's presentation live on Valentine's Day from 5-7 p.m. In addition to streaming on, Rebecca Minkoff is going live on the brand's Web site ( and Facebook page on Friday at 2 p.m. Calvin Klein is going live with both Calvin Klein Collection (Thursday February 17th 2 p.m.) and Calvin Klein Men's (Sunday February 11th at 2 p.m.) on the brand's own media channel Meanwhile, Twitter favorite @OscarPRGirl will serve as hostess of Oscar de la Renta's livestream on and Facebook next Wednesday the 16th at 1 p.m. DKNY (Sunday February 13th 2p.m.) and Donna Karan (Monday February 13th 2p.m.) will also be going live on their respective Facebook pages, and Marc Jacobs will once again be broadcasting live direct from the brand's website. The livestreams kick off tonight with The Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection show. The charity event -- which boasts Dita Von Teese, Eva Amurri and Denise Richards as some of its celebrity models -- airs its live broadcast on the CBS News Web site at 7 p.m. (
