The series, which debuted last Friday with "What Not to Wear" host Stacy London, features a weekly guest adviser from a series of industry personalities, including models, celebrity stylists and fashion designers. That guest will sign on to Fashism each Friday from noon to 2 p.m.EST and dole out style suggestions. This week, users will get judged by "Project Runway" judge and Marie Claire editor-at-large Nina Garcia (who is also an investor in the company).
Garcia, who admits she is still learning about the Internet, sees the site as a bridge between the public and the industry, a democratization of fashion -- much like fashion week live streams, flash sale sites and Tumblr.
"We need to embrace the Web 2.0 and to learn from the mistakes that other industries have done (I'm thinking particularly about the music industry). In that sense, Fashism opens a very interesting door where people can talk openly about fashion creating a very powerful fashion-driven community," said Garcia. "If the end of the Sixties marked a big revolution with the launch of the pret-a-porter lines, the Internet is breaking a new barrier in our industry."
Fashism will unveil the weekly guest contributor on Tuesdays at fashism.com/summerfridays.
