Mazar said, "The summer of Woodstock, my mother had become a hippie and I turned five. I wanted to have my birthday party at my grandmother's in Queens, but my mom was determined to go upstate to Woodstock on my birthday — Aug. 13 — and bring me with her.
"I was an only child at that point. I was packed into a car with her and my stepfather, in the rain, and we drove north.
"There was so much traffic. I was crying nonstop because I wouldn't get to see my friends or wear my pretty new dress and white patent leather Mary Janes. So my parents turned around, drove me back to Queens to grandma's house and went back. I had no idea what I was missing out on."
