WWDb caught up with designer and knockout beauty Camilla to pick her brain about her favorite swimsuits, beaches and bikini babes.
When did you begin designing your swimwear line? How did you segue from designing ready to wear to designing swim?
We started C&M camilla and marc because we had always grown up by the beach and felt that there was a gap in the market for beautiful, well-made, modern swimsuits that were both cool and stylish.
Is there a swimsuit style you find universally flattering?
Every body is different so, no, I don't believe that there is one style that is flattering for everyone. It's important to wear styles that suit you. We offer many different silhouettes for this reason.
What is the biggest mistake you think women make when choosing a bikini?
Animal bandeau bikini from the cruise collection.
What is your favorite bikini you've ever worn?
Ipenema one piece from the summer collection. It's divine!
There are a few. My favorite has to be Bondi beach in Sydney, where I have spent many a summer's day. However, overseas it has to be Formentera or any of the beaches in Cinque Terra. I love a beach that is hard to get to by foot -- so you either arrive by boat, which is an experience in itself, or if the rocky mountain terrain is a challenge, you have to hike to reach the crystal clear waters. There is nothing better than being able to hang out in the sun and feast on delicious European food -- another favorite of mine when on a summer European vacation.
What do you think is an iconic moment in bikini history?
Grace Kelly or Ali MacGraw in their heyday.
Yes.
C&M camilla and marc swimsuit and a dress from the swim collection as well. A great big towel, an iPod, sunscreen, sunglasses and lots of water.
