Shoe giant Aldo is no stranger to hitting the runways. The retailer has partnered with designers including Erin Fetherston and Costello Tagliapietra on fashion week shows and presentations for many seasons, but the brand's spring 2011 collaboration with Julian Louie is making company history. The Aldo X Julian Louie collection marks the first time the brand is producing a designer collaboration and carrying it in stores. SOBESLAVA Hi Res.JPGThe shoes seen on models at Louie's spring presentation will be available to the general public in stores and on Aldo's Web site, aldoshoes.com, starting Wednesday. The collection, which is featured in Aldo's spring ad campaign, consists of two different styles of wedge booties, called Deanna and Sobeslava, each in two colorways and prints.

"The styles Julian created really pushed the limit and were so well received both internally and in the fashion community that we wanted them to be available to all [of our] shoppers," Aldo creative director Douglas Bensadoun told WWD.

Louie attests that the printed platform booties provided a strong statement-making foundation for the clothes, serving as a contrast to the designer's minimalist spring lineup. "The prints were treated as texture, so the end result became not about any one pattern but about the use of pattern in general," the designer said.

DEANNA Hi Res.JPGAldo and Julian Louie will celebrate the collection at Aldo's SoHo store on Tuesday by bringing in another partner -- Elle creative director Joe Zee. Zee will host the shopping event, along with Rue La La (what would an event be without a little social media help these days?). Tickets to the event are being sold exclusively on Rue La La for $50 and can be redeemed toward the purchase of one of the $125 limited edition shoes.

Get your ticket for the launch of ALDO x Julian Louie at ruelala.com/event/29030.
