"The styles Julian created really pushed the limit and were so well received both internally and in the fashion community that we wanted them to be available to all [of our] shoppers," Aldo creative director Douglas Bensadoun told WWD.
Louie attests that the printed platform booties provided a strong statement-making foundation for the clothes, serving as a contrast to the designer's minimalist spring lineup. "The prints were treated as texture, so the end result became not about any one pattern but about the use of pattern in general," the designer said.
Aldo and Julian Louie will celebrate the collection at Aldo's SoHo store on Tuesday by bringing in another partner -- Elle creative director Joe Zee. Zee will host the shopping event, along with Rue La La (what would an event be without a little social media help these days?). Tickets to the event are being sold exclusively on Rue La La for $50 and can be redeemed toward the purchase of one of the $125 limited edition shoes.
