Matthew, our daughter, Araminta, and I have been at a villa in Ibiza for three weeks now. I don’t speak any Spanish, so we’re having a little communication problem, but we use a lot of sign language. I’ve also learned a few words like decaffinada con leche.

This is my first year in Ibiza! For the last 20, I’ve gone to Saint-Tropez, but this summer I wanted something more relaxed and hippie, where you don’t have to blow-dry your hair and you can wear a peasant top with a denim miniskirt and flip-flops.

The water is the most beautiful I’ve ever seen, but it’s boiling here! This means everybody takes an evening siesta and has dinner at midnight. Of course, this is hard with a 16-month-old who gets up at 7:30 a.m.

We have a huge patio, perfect for entertaining. Our last party we had with Valentino and his business partner Giancarlo, Elle Macpherson, Simon and Yasmin Le Bon and Jade Jagger, who’s the queen of the island.

My favorite daytime activity is taking the boat out to Formentera, a little island off the coast, where we swim ashore and have lunch at fish restaurants on the beach. Most nights we go down to the cove and swim during sunset, then sit on the terrace with candles all around. We also eat out at Los Das Lunas and Clondenis. One thing I have to do before I leave on Saturday is go to Cafe del Mar, where hundreds of people sit on the beach listening to music and watching the sunset. It’s like some deranged cult worshipping the sun. Don’t worry. I’ve been wearing SPF 30 on my face!

Editor’s Note: Tamara Mellon is currently sunbathing in Ibiza with her husband, Matthew, and daughter, Araminta.
