WWD Postcard

We’re staying in Villa Lorada, which was built in the Sixties and belongs to the French singer Johnny Hallyday. It’s just to-die-for. In the morning, I get up around 8:30 and go right to the villa’s four-room gym with a separate room for kickboxing, cardio, heavy weights and light weights. Then I hit the pool with Allegra and Daniel and friends like Puff Daddy, Bono and Bruce Willis, who all visited this summer. The pool is great — it has a diving board over the Jacuzzi. Later in the afternoons, we all get in the speedboat and go as fast as we can. But I’m not in the driver’s seat because that would be really dangerous!

Everybody congregates at Nikki Beach or La Voile Rouge to dance or check out the DJs in the evening, but sometimes we turn the villa into our own dance club and bring in a DJ to spin by the pool. We’ve been eating at home on our fabulous patio, since I don’t like going out to restaurants. I’ve brought a cook from Italy, so the food is very Italian, not French. Earlier in the summer, I covered the patio in rose petals, then we had a Moroccan night, and on Monday, I had dancers come and perform and we ate barbecued fish.

It’s like La Dolce Vita all over again!

Allegra spends a lot of time hanging out with her friends from London and New York. She’s 16 now, you know. I’ve set up a little soccer field for Daniel and his friends and every day 11 children get out there and play ball. I made them uniforms styled after those of our absolute favorite soccer team, Inter — blue and black striped shirts with a blue Medusa on the front and black shorts. They’re so cute!



Donatella Versace is spending the month of August with her children, Allegra and Daniel, and friends in Ramatuelle, a seaside town in the south of France, near Saint-Tropez.
