From prim and proper to mama-to-be, A-list actress mothers worked the red carpet recently in looks that ran the gamut of premiere dressing. Mira Sorvino and Jennifer Connelly celebrated their forthcoming "Reservation Road" with a dynamic duo of satin frocks and "I hit the gym" gams, the former sporting a mini hem that would give even lithe twentysomethings pause. At the New York Film Festival screening of "Margot at the Wedding," Nicole Kidman was perfectly polished in a form-fitting, embroidered cream sheath, lace peep-toe pumps and a sleek, glossy updo.
But actresses are people too, and after a long day giving interviews for "Things We Lost in the Fire," Halle Berry relaxed in a weekend-casual look for a Cinema Society screening of the film. In a simple Calypso slipdress and cashmere sweater coat ("Fashion is on my side," she proclaimed of the current volume trend), Berry's best accessory was her pregnancy glow — although her gold and diamond hoops and oversize black ring weren't too shabby either. "I don't think my ears and fingers can get any fatter," she said with a laugh. Knocked up never looked so good.
