Grossich, owner of Hospitality Holdings, which runs The World Bar at Trump World Tower as well as this one, called on famed London interior decorator Nina Campbell (no relation) to breathe life into the space that long served as a private office to the late business tycoon John Campbell. For the revamp, the designer opted for a more fresh and feminine style. "I wanted to switch the look back to Florence from Morocco," says the whimsical Campbell. "The thought behind it was if you're a very rich man and you own this extraordinary space, you can do what you like. So I added reds to make it richer and slightly dressier."
The plush red and green velvet sofas and chairs are from Campbell's own line of furnishings (on which her daughter Rita Konig collaborates).
But just because her aesthetic stamp may be on the space, that doesn't mean the designer is ready to belly up to the bar just yet. "There's something old fashioned about the idea that you can have a drink and then wander to your train," Campbell says. "But I'm always in a panic. I would never be able to have a drink and then think I'm going to make the 7:15 to Westchester."
