The inexhaustible Bettina Zilkha arrived for one of her last countryside outings before her summer jaunt to Ibiza, Saint-Tropez and Provence, while Helen Schifter came toting a new Gwen Stefani L.A.M.B. for Le Sportsac bag. “Tim just brought it home for me,” she said.
Vera Wang, an event regular, talked about why she always attends. “It brings a diverse group of people together,” said Wang, noting the revelers which included Eighties runway legend Dalma.
“At the end of her career, she came down the runway and plopped in a chair, and that was how she retired,” said Badgley.
A different kind of summer evening unfolded at Central Park on Tuesday at the opening night of “Henry V” and the summer benefit for the Public Theater and Shakespeare in the Park. Edward Norton, Marisa Tomei, Kristin Davis, Nancy and Andrew Jarecki and Anna Wintour gathered to see Liev Schreiber’s turn as King Henry.
As usual, Norton skulked passed photographers, while Kathleen Turner posed on and on for the lensmen. Sam Rockwell arrived with Fisher Stevens.
“I’m here to see Liev,” said Rockwell, while standing in line for his tickets. The actor said he wouldn’t mind taking a shot at Shakespeare himself. “I’d want to play Iago.” Of course.
