Donna Karan certainly didn’t gain a spare pound this winter. In fact, she looked so good at a lunch to benefit the New Yorkers for Parks held in her Madison Avenue store last week, that she had everyone wondering: Just how does Donna do it? It could be the two-plus hours Karan puts in on the yoga mat daily, or it could be the high-powered green juice chef Jill Pettijohn serves up. "My green juice wakes me up and gets me going every morning," says Karan. "It’s my coffee."

Here’s the recipe:

GREEN JUICE

3 organic apples

1 stick celery

1 cup spinach leaves or kale

1 inch ginger root

1/2 fennel bulb

1/2 cup parsley

1/2 cucumber

1 tablespoon tocotrienols (vitamin E derivatives)

1 tablespoon of nutrient-mineral powder (such as Nature’s First Food)

1 teaspoon goat’s whey

1 teaspoon flaxseed oil

About 6 nuts (macadamias are Donna’s favorite)

Pass the first seven ingredients through a juicer. Pour into a blender and add the remaining ingredients. Blend, taking care to leave the nuts chunky enough to chew them.
