As teenagers out on Manhattan’s club scene, Vanessa and Veronika Haydon dreamed they’d become club owners themselves one day. And with the opening of Sessa this fall, the two sisters, 25-year-old models born eleven months apart, finally have a club to call their own. The spot has a Polynesian theme, with a VIP table housed in a hut and carved statues everywhere. "It all puts you in Bali," says Vanessa, the elder sister. "I’ve never been there, but I’d like to go."
The club was named by Veronika’s three-year-old daughter, who can’t yet pronounce her aunt’s name. Veronika, Vanessa, Sessa — to the Haydons it’s all the same. "Everyone always confuses us," says Veronika. "We answer to both names."
Sessa is a place to hang out without having to shout over the music, the sisters say, and was inspired by Spy. But in their early clubbing years, the Haydons preferred wilder haunts and could be found living it up at Limelight. "I didn’t know that there were drugs around," says Veronika. "I just thought it was a place where people acted weird."
