A natural head-turner with long blonde hair and captivating blue eyes, Masha Z. can capture a variety of looks ranging from Hitchcock film actress to girl-next-door. Watch out for her on the runways during her first New York Fashion Week.
Agency: New York Models
Home country: Russia
Birth sign: Gemini
Favorite designer: “I like Dior very much. And it’s my dream show to walk!”
Favorite body part: “My hair. I just cut it in June. It was much longer!”
How long have you been in New York?
“I just arrived a few days ago. It’s my second time here. I’ll be here only through fashion week. After that, I’ll go to Paris. Maybe I’ll continue there; we’ll have to see how it’s going.”
What are your thoughts about heading into your first New York Fashion Week?
“I’m excited to see how it’s going to go. I’m looking forward to seeing all the casting directors and designers. I can’t wait!”
What do you think of New York?
“I like everything. Since it’s only my second time here, I want to see more and learn more about the city. I like it much better than Moscow. In Moscow, people are very strong and inside themselves. Americans will just ask you on the street, ‘How are you?’ and it feels good.”
Do you have favorite pieces in your wardrobe?
“Jeans. I feel most comfortable in them. I know I can have varied looks — fun, strong, or just nice. I don’t have a favorite brand. I just buy what looks good.”
What’s on your iPod?
“I never listen to Russian music. It’s too much ‘pop’ music, but at the same time I listen to Rihanna or people like that! I like Eminem, too.”
What are your must-have beauty products?
“I like Clinique products to clean my face. And I use Lancôme mascara everyday.”
Do you have any hobbies?
“I play sports and sometimes I like dancing. Just for myself! I might try yoga when I go back to Russia. I read books, too. I can sit in my room and read one book in a day. I like different books: detective stories, romance, nonfiction.”
Who’s your favorite author?
“Dan Brown. He wrote ‘The Da Vinci Code’. I almost inhale his books. I can sit for a day and read so much.”
What do you do when you’re not modeling?
“I’m in my first year of university and am studying to be a teacher. I’d like to teach small children, like first-, second-, or third-graders. My grandmother is a teacher. I spend a lot of time with children. They’re loud and active, but I like them because they have so much positive energy.”
If you weren’t a model, what would you be?
“I don’t know, but I do know that I don’t want to sit in some office and look at a computer all day. I want to do something active. I don’t want to sit in one place.”
Is there a model that inspires you?
“I really like Natalia Vodianova because of her great personality, which you can even feel in her pictures! And I respect Linda Evangelista so much for staying amazing all this time.”
What are your modeling goals?
“I want to try everything and figure out what I can do. Right now, I feel like I can do everything!”
