Debbie Bancroft, Julia Koch, Agnes Gund, Kelsey and Camille Grammer and Gov. David Paterson filed in to tents outside the museum for the soiree, which this year honored longtime Parrish chairwoman Dorothy Lichtenstein, widow of the artist Roy.
“She’s a pillar in the art community from SoHo to Southampton,” gushed Paterson of the evening’s honoree. (Paterson, who had arrived on the East End just a few hours earlier, also took the opportunity to gush about his own contributions to the arts, which include preserving supportive budgets despite the economic downturn.)
But the politician wasn’t the only person who had kind words for Lichtenstein, whose many and varied virtues, including her youthful good looks, were extolled throughout the course of the evening.
“I’m blushing,” said an overwhelmed Lichtenstein.
At the stroke of 10, Arden Wohl and other members of the junior set took over the area for dancing and dessert.
