San Francisco society swelled the Legion of Honor museum Thursday night for the seventh annual Mid-Winter Gala, hosted by the Fine Arts Museums Junior Committee.
Trevor Traina and Vanessa Getty, two of the ball's founders, swirled among four hundred guests, many of whom took the opportunity to view the popular “Cartier and America” exhibit.
“In May, we’ll have the first of our Impressionism shows, and then we’ll get the Post-Impressionists from the Musée d’Orsay, and next year paintings from the Musée Picasso,” said John Buchanan, the museum’s director. “I pity anyone going to Paris to see the art, because all the best pieces will be here,” sniffed Traina.
The increasingly visible Marissa Mayer joined guests including Katie Traina, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Laura Cunningham, and Isha Abdullah. Getty wore the same shimmering gown she donned a few days earlier for Vanity Fair’s Oscar party. “It’s made from twenty vintage Egyptian embroidered shawls from Alexandria,” she said.
