The New York State Theater transformed into a Harajuku fantasy land Monday evening for the annual Dance with the Dancers party, this year co-sponsored by Elle and Piazza Sempione.

There were bright red wigs, neon colored paper lanterns and fuchsia tablecloths and yards and yards of kimonos, as guests took the Japanese dress option to heart. Nicole Miller picked hers up at a vintage shop, explaining, "I've always liked chopsticks in my hair, so this is just a natural extension of that."

Co-chairman Allison Sarofim went a step further and enlisted her tailor to take vintage obi fabric and turn it into a very of-the-moment bubble-skirted dress. "I hope it doesn't get lost in translation," she joked.
