SUPERHERO SINGS STANDARDS: When Wonder Woman defeats a villain, she wears a gold-and-red bustier and starry short shorts. When Wonder Woman does cabaret, she wears Carolina Herrera and Ralph Lauren, thank you very much.
This evening, Lynda Carter will step into her designer duds as she starts her five-night run at Feinstein’s at Loews Regency. The playlist will include standards and some “dirty blues,” as she calls them, tunes with which she’s been familiar since she started singing as a teen. “I’m not trying to make myself more famous. I’m not trying to make a huge amount of money,” the actress says of her return to the stage after taking time off to raise her two children. “I want to do the music I want to do and connect with a live audience. There’s nothing like that.”
Carter, who played Atlantic City earlier this month, will get yet another chance to engage a crowd when she performs at Jazz at Lincoln Center in March. It’s a safe bet she won’t need her bulletproof cuffs there either.
