Before a designer’s first look hits the runway, the tone of the collection is set with sound. This season, the style set played tunes both obscure (the soundtrack from the 1971 erotic thriller “Vampyros Lesbos” at Melani Von Alexandria) and old-school (Tone-Loc’s “Wild Thing” at Betsey Johnson). There were even noteworthy live performances by artists including Cowboy Junkies at Ports 1961, Ben Harper at Propr, Brooklyn-based experimental rockers Stars Like Fleas at Obedient Sons & Daughters and a 10-piece orchestra at Isaac Mizrahi. Here, WWD has mixed a master playlist, in chronological order, from the New York spring shows.
