Rare is the fashion party that turns into an intimate affair, but the dinner Nadia Swarovski threw for Zac Posen at Mr. Chow last Thursday night was just that. Surrounded by his nearest and dearest — mom, dad, sister Alexandra, Natalie Portman, Barbara Bush, kd lang and Bernadette Peters — Posen, dressed in a Swarovski crystal studded tie, reveled in the spotlight. He capered. He jumped. He grabbed Bijou Phillips for a seductive tango. Then Bush, who spent the night giggling with Portman and holding hands with a handsome young man, stripped down to a tank top and pulled Posen’s 13 year-old cousin onto the dance floor to a round of applause.

"This is like a really fun bar mitzvah," said Natalie Leeds.

Meanwhile, at Henri Bendel, a tight knit crew came together to fete Daryl Kerrigan and the eight friends — including Erin O’Connor, Clarissa Dalrymple and Vogue’s Camilla Nickerson — she asked to model new styles. "Look," one guest said, lifting Nickerson's sweater to pat a smooth leather top underneath, "and she's had two babies!"

The night before, the Marc Jacobs fashion family was out in full force. Long-time fans Debbie Harry, Christy Turlington, Kim Gordon and Hilary Swank joined new ones like Sandra Bullock, Marianne Faithfull, Kelly Osbourne and Benicio del Toro at the new Maritime Hotel for his show and after-party.

But, in these Soprano days, it’s clear even the closest family faces rivalries. "We were both up for the CFDA award, but Marc won," said P. Diddy, "I came to see what the competition is up to. If we ever go up against each other again, I’d like to know what he has up his sleeve."
