MARC ON LEAVE: Keen-eyed Marc Jacobs watchers might have been surprised to see a photo pop up on the Internet Monday of the designer shopping at Barneys New York in Los Angeles on Sunday with Naomi Campbell. As the fashion world knows, Jacobs entered rehab in Arizona on March 5, the day after showing his Louis Vuitton collection in Paris.
Jacobs' business partner, Robert Duffy, reached in Savannah, Ga., on Monday, where he was opening a Marc by Marc Jacobs store, confirmed the designer had transferred from a facility in Arizona to one in California. "He was on day leave for his [44th] birthday," Duffy said. "Naomi Campbell has been very supportive of his recovery, and took him shopping."
As seen here, the designer looked tan and fit and was carrying a tote bag emblazoned with the name of his Arizona treatment facility. His support of the embattled Campbell — who just completed a stint of court-ordered community service — is not a new trend for the designer. Other wayward celebs who have been recipients of the Jacobs brand of compassion are Lil' Kim, Winona Ryder and Michelle Rodriguez.
