But the new collection addresses the younger generation’s environmental concerns, too. It will be made entirely from eco-friendly soybean and bamboo fabrics. "It’s not about fashion," explains Gutfreund. "It’s about comfort and a concern for the environment."
It’s also about quality time. "My son will enjoy the business aspect, which I hate," says Gutfreund, "but it’s a way for a mother and her teenage son to do a project together."
Once the Gutfreunds’ pals have tested and approved the products, the duo plans to market their wares under the JP label. That’s JP as in John Peter, though the moniker has another meaning. "Isn’t that always what you say when you find something you love?" the elder Gutfreund asks. "It’s Just Perfect."
