Starlet hostesses Chloë Sevigny, Rosario Dawson and Jessica Biel all, of course, arrived chauffeured in the econo-chic sedans and they stepped out extolling the vehicle.
“My first car was a Volkswagen and my brother also had a Bug,” said Sevigny. “I just love the shape of the car and they are very efficient and economical.”
Dawson also professed her nostalgia: “I’ve had an affinity for Volkswagen since I was little. I was a dork — I even used to collect little VW vans. I had this whole idea that I was going to buy one and get all the parts and drive across the country. But I’m actually going to do it in a Touareg now. I realized the old van might clunk out on me somewhere.”
While the positive sentiment about automobiles was easy to muster, the evening’s fashion direction was a bit more vague. Sevigny showed up in a lemon yellow Yves Saint Laurent frock, while Adrien Brody donned a velour sweatsuit. Most actresses, including Biel, said they took more than an hour to get ready. “I probably shouldn’t admit that, but I couldn’t decide what to wear,” she laughed. Those 60 minutes produced a light blue BCBG sweater and black pants.
