“There really is so much talent in L.A., and they are all so much fun,” said Diane von Furstenberg who, along with husband Barry Diller, opened their Coldwater Canyon manse in Beverly Hills for CFDA president Stan Herman, executive director Peter Arnold and nearly 200 designers, publicists, editors and industry players.
“You certainly are Juicy and I’m not,” enthused a flirtatious James Galanos upon meeting, and heartily embracing, Juicy Couture co-founder Gela Nash-Taylor, in second-skin Prada, accompanied by her rocker husband, John Taylor.
“It’s such a beautiful party because of everyone who turned out,” mused Tara Subkoff.
Indeed, besides CFDA founding member Galanos and Luis Esteves, there were new-generation stars such as Magda Berliner, Trina Turk, Henry Duarte, Louis Verdad, Jenni Kayne, Liz Goldwyn and Monique Lhuillier. While von Furstenberg lingered until well after most had left, her other half clearly had his fill of the scene an hour into it. On his way out, he grumbled, “I’m done.”
