An all-girl punk quartet looks to bring sexy into the genre.

Civet founding member and lead vocalist-guitarist Liza describes the band's style as “Femme-fatale punk rock.” While they definitely subscribe to the angry sound of all-girl punk bands such as Bikini Kill and L7, theirs is a more feminine, sexy brand of punk rock.

“We love to dress up and perform, and always wear skirts and dresses,” says Suzi, Liza’s kid sister and the band’s guitarist. Their sense of fashion and style runs deep enough that all four band members show up for their WWD photo shoot in color-coordinated black and green outfits.

Taking their inspiration across the board from The Misfits to Roy Orbison, Motorhead and The Runaways, the girls’ sense of musical taste and style runs the gamut. While drummer Dani shops mostly on eBay, finding vintage plaid dresses, the band’s bassist, Jacqui, boasts zombiekitten.com as her all-time favorite site. Musically, their CD players (Liza doesn’t own an iPod) spin an eclectic mix of old-school (Social Distortion  and Mötley Crüe) and newfound faves (The Bones and Backyard Babies).

Civet seems to have found the perfect balance in its current members’ personas as well: self-described as a tough ass (Liza), a business-minded realist (Jacqui), happy and mellow (Dani) and free-spirited (Suzi).

On Aug. 18, the girls take off on their second nationwide tour (the first, with the Dropkick Murphys, finished a few weeks ago). They will play with Zebrahead to promote their new album, “Hell Hath No Fury,” out Tuesday on Hellcat Records.
