Gilles Mendel may be best known for dressing New York social girls, but at his J. Mendel show Thursday afternoon, in addition to the usual front-row ladies like Lauren duPont, Lisa Airan, Helen Schifter, Olivia Chantecaille, Tinsley Mortimer, Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos, Tiffany Dubin and Debbie Bancroft, he had a few British imports in attendance. The Scarry sisters, Fiona and Olympia, England's answer to those infamous Hilton girls, were in town from London, sitting in the second row beside their friend, Camilla Al Fayed, daughter of Harrods owner Mohammed Al Fayed.

"We went to DVF on Sunday. It was our first show of the week," said Al Fayed of witnessing the disastrous light crash. "We're going to Zac Posen tonight. We're still a bit jet-lagged, but we partied as soon as we got here. We landed on Saturday and went to Marquee and Bungalow that night." Al Fayed plans to attend Julien Macdonald's show next week in London, though she admits fashion week there isn't the same now that designers like Alexander McQueen show elsewhere.
