"Yes, that's right. I'm wearing the big 'TF,'" joked Nick Hoult, as he arrived at the pre-BAFTA party hosted by Asprey on Saturday evening at the brand's Bond Street store.

He was referring, of course, to his new pal Tom Ford, the director of "A Single Man," in which Hoult plays a university student with a crush on his professor.

Hoult has been nominated for the Orange Rising Star Award, which was to be announced at the BAFTAs in London the UK equivalent of the Oscars - on Sunday night. Acting in a Tom Ford film isn't all about the fringe benefits.

The makeup, for starters, is a drag. "I had to wear a lot of self tanner. They wanted me to look Californian, which I don't look at all normally. I'm really pale," he said. Other guests included fellow BAFTA nominees Colin Firth, Carey Mulligan, Vera Farmiga, Gabourey Sidibe and Kristin Scott Thomas.

Scott Thomas, who was wearing Lanvin, mused on her hometown, Paris. "I couldn't live anywhere else," said the British native. "I like to work in London, but I love living in Paris. It's small, and
beautiful."
