The exhibit opened with Gu Wenda’s installation of Chinese lanterns at the Zendai museum and has included work such as Wu Yunyong’s ongoing and interactive Slang Dictionary, and 366 Days of Reassurance, for which Liang Yue posts a daily photograph on her blog of the Chinese characters fang xin—meaning “don’t worry.” Vibeke Jensen’s Night Watch featured video projections of a giant green eye on bridges and underpasses around the city. For “Artistic Archaeology 2008,” Fan Shuru set up photographs and documents relating to modern Shanghai’s transformation in a transparent tent at the Daning LifeHub shopping street, where visitors were encouraged to deposit their own photos and drawings.
