The 2014 Academy Award nominations were revealed this morning, showering a handful of films with multiple nominations, including “American Hustle,” which swept the directing and all four acting categories.

Among the best actress nods, in leading and supporting categories, designers will have mostly past nominees to dress as well as Lupita Nyong’o, a first-time nominee for “12 Years a Slave” who has dominated best-dressed lists during this past awards season.

The most glaring snubs among the nominations were Robert Redford, of “All is Lost,” Emma Thompson, who was riding a wave of goodwill for “Saving Mr. Banks,” and Tom Hanks, who had two films in contention, “Mr. Banks” and “Captain Phillips,” though the latter scored a best picture nod.

The nominations were unveiled a little after 5:30 a.m. Pacific Time by actor Chris Hemsworth and Cheryl Boone Isaacs, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
