Wednesday evening was a very English night in Toronto. While Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, were being toasted at a government reception at arts center Carlu with Ontario premier Dalton McGuinty, just down the road on Bloor Street Burberry was celebrating the opening of their new flagship store.
The Prince had stopped by the brand’s London headquarters last week.
At the nearly 10,000 square foot Toronto outpost, autumn/winter campaign model Tom Guinness deejayed Christopher Bailey-approved hits from the Kooks, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan, as guests came in seeking shelter from the rain. They sipped Champagne and mingled in front of a polished black chrome and mirror checked panel that stretches the full height of the duplex store.
Meanwhile, “Heroes” star Ali Larter braved the weather in a patent leather Burberry trench—luckily very water-proof. “We wrapped [filming] early, and I literally have blood and dirt all down my back,” said the starlet. “So this trench is on double duty."
